REFLECTING SKIN

The exhibition explores the human body transmutation when digitized: skin reshaped in 3D, faces dreamt by AI, pores born as pixels. A new digital epidermis emerges, untouched by physical decay but vulnerable to its own forms of distortion.

In the era of radical digitization,
the body no longer ends at the skin.

Pixels replace pores, reflections become refractions, and flesh - once warm and porous - finds itself transfigured into a new, digital substrate. REFLECTING SKIN is an online exhibition exploring the transmutation of the human skin when digitized, where art pieces from the zardoz.club collection play between biological reality and computational information.

Through cameras, 3D modeling, data corruption, generative code and AI, the corporeal self is broken down into shining pixels, inorganic colors and algorithmic abstractions. The skin, once the interface between the body and the world, now serves as a raw canvas for reconstruction by machines. Here, light does not reflect off the body; it re-encodes scars, folds, and pores into a new epidermis. The twenty artists in this exhibition explore how digital tools reimagine and distort our physical form, pushing it toward unexpected ways of visualization.

But this is not the utopic transcendence into digital eternity. Like its biological counterpart, the digital flesh is subject to its own types of decay. Glitches, compression artifacts, random mutations and AI hallucinations act as the visual manifestation of a synthetic skin that is neither immortal nor invulnerable. The exhibition envisions a post-human embodiment where the boundaries between organic and artificial dissolve. The works presented invite us to witness the existence of a non-biological skin - and its endless potential to mutate and live inside a digital world.
